Wow there, little tribe! While I've been off neglecting you, you went and got like 15 new people signed up. So exciting. I'll try to be around more often, I mean it this time. And it's not just because of all the excitement. I've always been here for you, even when you were the littlest tribe of all, and I always will be.
I'm gonna go listen to MRI now. Be good.

Re: go go, little post-glitch tribe!
Fri, December 10, 2004 - 8:29 AMSo hey, even more people now. Leaves me wondering: who are all you people? How did you come to join this tribe, and what are you hoping to find here?
In other words, introduce yourself, why don't you? -

Re: go go, little post-glitch tribe!
Fri, December 10, 2004 - 8:38 AMTo get the ball rolling, I'll get started with the introductions. I'm Thomas, and I live in Chicago - where I try to be hip but I'm probably getting a little too old. Anyway, I thought I knew what cool music was, and then right away the same time I heard Mum and Four Tet and I just decided that everything had to change. I tried to share my newfound enthusiasm with the denizens of my favorite old electronic music bulletin board haunts, but it seemed that everyone there just wanted to keep talking about Autechre and max/msp patch programming. There's nothing wrong with all that, but seeing my threads get largely ignored made me realize that if wanted to catch a different vibe, I was gonna have to start my own scene. I considered setting up a bulletin board of my own (even went as far as installing punbb on my web server) but wasn't sure how to promote it.
At that point it seemed like Tribe could help me find people who shared my enthusiasm for this sound, and it seems to be working out. I know this is yet a small tribe compared to some, but to be honest it's already larger than I even expected. It's nice to see there's maybe some excitement about this kind of music. Thanks for being here.
Okay, your turn. -

Re: go go, little post-glitch tribe!
Fri, December 10, 2004 - 11:23 AMI'm originally from Chicago too, I moved to S.F., CA about 7 years ago.
I am part of a collective of performers that do various events around the Bay Area. We have a monthly club night - third Friday of the month @ Sublounge SF.
We also do outdoor gatherings and an ocassional full-moon beach party in the summer.
I DJ and produce Nu-Skool Breaks, and a bit of bass-heavy modern techno.
The funny thing is, I don't listen to much uptembo music when I am by myself...I usually find myself listening to post-ambient glitchy stuff or folktronica type music.
(Four Tet, Electric Birds, Pan American, Badly Drawn Boy, Crunch, Two Lone Swordsmen)

I do freelance editing and flirt with fire.
musically, I like it all... except I'm super picky! idm, glitch, post, folk, electro, dnb, breaks, hip-hop, rock, pop, funk... in every genre there are gems to be found. But oh what a haystack it is...

i'm brian, in Portland, OR. I played live music for a long time and got more and more into electronics, and now I make music by myself on my computer.

Re: go go, little post-glitch tribe!
Sun, January 30, 2005 - 12:43 PMWithout even checking, I am certain I am the oldest member. I am here because, to my knowledge, I am not acquainted with one other human being who likes this stuff. So I depend upon what I read or chance to hear on some Live365 stream to guide me to my latest obsession.
I'm a 53-year-old (!) queer writer and editrix in Seattle, and a recovering poet (poetry being the most often abused substance, and I do mean ABUSED). For fun, I make big butches cry like girls.
This week, I'm deciding which of Taylor Deupree's projects I want to own (I know, not what you're talking about here, cope), but listening mostly to good old-fashioned PUNK. That's Noah Levine's fault.
Oh -- I got here by searching on MINIMALISM. Simple, really. -

Hello all, I'm Melissa, and I do enjoy a clickyrolling or pitterpattering beat. But I've yet to learn to create them myself.
