Re: anyone seen the Autechre tour?
Wed, March 22, 2006 - 8:43 PMyeah it was fucking great. this is the 3rd time i've seen them live. first in 98 (changed my life) and then in 02 (underwhelmed as most people seemed to be) but they cam back full force this time. melodies here and there, super-complex yet still party-time. in fact i'm starting to prefer the stuff they play live to their studio stuff. i got a bootlegged mp3 straight from the sounddesk in glasgow and i listen to it more than any of their recent albums. i love how the songs are constantly mutating in really intangible ways and before you know it the sound has completely changed.
aaanyways, enough grovelling. but they definitely redeemed themselves 100-fold from the last tour... -

Re: anyone seen the Autechre tour?
Thu, March 30, 2006 - 9:41 AMthat sounds awesome. I gotta see if I can gank some of that live bootleg mp3 action.
It's funny - in a way, I started this whole tribe as a reaction *against* Ae and others of the purely glitchy IDM realms, who seemed (at that time, a couple years ago now) to have crawled too far up their own theories and process to ever a find a way back to sound that could communicate as music. I wanted to be after something that had all that itchy brainy goodness, but hung on to some warmth and soul as well. Which stuff like Draft 7.30, interesting as it is in its way, seemed to me quite devoid of.
But the truth is Autechre will always have a special place in my heart, and Amber and Tri Repetae will always be at home in my CD player.
Thanks for posting, this definitely caught my interest.
