Soul Oddity is:
A proponent of the new skool electro sound -- a fusion of Detroit electro with Miami bass funk -- the south Florida-based Soul Oddity was the partnership of producers Josh Kay and Romulo Del Castillo. Supposedly formed as the result of a chance encounter with a UFO, Soul Oddity's fascination with the otherworldly continued on their future music projects.

Mon, February 14, 2005 - 5:20 PM1015 used to suck.
I actually said pretty much the same thing in a post about 1/2 year ago.
But Adam Ohana and Dov (from Eyephunk) are doing the booking fow weekends, and they are both great producers and have been in the S.F. underground scene for a long time. Eyephunk was the main distributor for Nu SKool breaks and Psy-Tranc ein the 90's.
Anyways - after a number of Get Freak's, Dhammal Soundsystem Nights, and countless others (Hybrid, Nu Breed, etc.), the place has really turned around.
Every room has been remodeled, the sound upgraded in most rooms, and the security is super chill now. You can actually smoke INSIDE, ina seprate smoking lounge.
And yes - I have puffed some kind bud there, no problems!
And the lights and lasers are top-notch.
Check it out if you have a chance - believe me, we wouldn't host Soul Oddity there without making sure it would be a super-trippy, high quality "undergound" production.

Re: Phoenecia :: Soul Oddity :: Feb 18th - SF, CA
Tue, February 15, 2005 - 3:45 PMyeah, the police state style security and $20 cover charge kind of ruined it for me.. the sound system and lights were always top notch, but after being kicked out for having a little puff during an ed rush and optical set, i swore to never step foot in there again. it's good to hear things have changed.
