it has glitchy percussion and post-analog synthesis, as well as vocals and classical guitar. i am endeavoring to break boundaries and fuse genres... how am i doing?

Re: is this post-glitch?
Thu, March 17, 2005 - 5:01 AMIt had a good beat, and you can really dance to it - I give it an 85 ;-)
not to get too hung up on subgenre definitions, it's a really nice track and thanks for sharing.
I wouldn't want to suggest that you change anything, because I have a feeling that you're getting more or less the sound you're after. But for me personally, it's all just a little too slick for me to embrace it entirely. Don't get me wrong, I think it's *very* well done, it's just that while I like the pretty stuff, the stuff that really works for me is when there's at least a little element in there of something that just sounds strange or even wrong, something just a little bit ill to give it that fucked up edge. While this track is in many ways very creative, I feel like I hear a kind of restraint throughout. Again, there's nothing wrong with that - it's actually very professional, and this is a professional-sounding track. I just happen to have a sort of personal bias toward the inspired amateur.
Also, the lyrics are rather dramatic and angsty for my tastes, but again that's just me. A lot of people really seem to like that sort of thing.
I hope none of the above sounds too negative, I really do admire the songcraft and musiciainship here. To try to end on a positive note, the guitar sounds fantastic - the track really starts taking off for me when that comes in.
